Unbridled Self Journey: Finding Trust

For five years, Amanda Graham and the team at Unbridled Way Forward have focused on equine-assisted psychotherapy and monthly Herd Meditations. In psychotherapy of any kind, people are often struggling with issues from their past and present that cause symptoms of depression or anxiety. Relationship issues and trauma often prompt people to seek psychotherapy.
Program offerings have helped people access parts of their inner wisdom that may have been dormant or closed off. Coupled with the integration of horses, Unbridled Way Forward uses a mindfulness-based approach to create a psychologically safe environment that supports people in exploring choices.
But sometimes, people feel stuck and unsure about their next steps in life.
Because of this, founder Amanda Graham designed and created Unbridled Self Journey in response to a growing demand from people looking for something more to help them find direction, purpose, and meaning in their lives.
“I encountered so many women looking for something more in their lives. Maybe they had been in therapy before but were at a crossroads or a transition. They quietly realized that something was missing from their lives,” Amanda shares.
Inspired by Joseph Campbell’s The Hero’s Journey, Unbridled Self Journey goes deep beneath psychological constructs to access ancient, shared archetypes – timeless representations of the shared human experience.
The program empowers participants to step away from societal expectations and embark on a journey of self-discovery, creative expression, and mindful living. As a personal and professional growth program, Unbridled Self Journey focuses on building courage, confidence, wisdom, and clarity. Engaging in a more organic and individualized experience, this program recognizes the uniqueness of each person’s path and supports them in uncovering what they are truly meant to become.
Unbridled Self Journey consists of 8 structured sessions over 2-3 months, guided by each person’s goals. The program utilizes a variety of experiential interventions, including facilitated connection time with horses, journaling, visioning, mindfulness and embodied meditations, projective techniques with photographs to deepen insights, and story elements to expand awareness.
Denise has participated in two Unbridled Self Journeys, one in 2023 and one in 2024. After many changes in her life, she underwent a personal transformation. Denise approached Amanda, seeking clarity and curiosity for the power and peace of working with the horses.
“When I thought I was not doing well with one of my life challenges, the engagement with the horses showed me that that didn’t make me a bad person or unlovable, but rather increasingly human and full of learning.”
The results of the program surprised her. “The entire experience was very grounding. I found a lot of peace, honesty, possibility, and spaciousness to process the challenges I entered the program with. My experience with the horses was a lot of powerful encouragement.” When asked about how the process felt, Denise shared, “To have the journey on a map that isn’t limiting but an invitation to expand into discovery was helpful to me because I feel I do best with enough room to explore but enough information to know I’m not going to get too lost.”
That’s one of the unique identifiers of this program. The Unbridled Self Journey is designed for individuals who feel disconnected from their purpose or seek a more profound sense of fulfillment. It’s particularly beneficial for those who may feel stuck in their careers, relationships, or personal development. It’s real work towards finding one’s authentic path.
Like Denise shares about the Unbridled Self Journey, there is a place for anyone on their journey: “This course has assured me, and therefore I believe others, that community, connection, and freedom are available to us. Building trust is slow. Once we get to trust, everything is possible, and we can ride the power of that connection into a new beginning.”
